Description
At California Trail Interpretive Center, we focus on the California Trail experience and provide educational and cultural enrichment to the general public. We also have a partnership with the non-profit Southern Nevada Conservancy and sell books, children’s gifts, apparel, candy, and other miscellaneous Trail related items.
Between 1841 and 1869, up to 250,000 people sold their belongings, packed wagons, and set out for California. The California Trail Interpretive Center offers dioramas and interactive exhibits that immerse the visitor in the trail experience of those who endured the 2,000 mile trek.
At the California Trail Center in Elko, Nevada you will have the opportunity to experience multimedia exhibits, life-size dioramas, original art, and video productions. You can hike the trails, attend interpretive programs, and speak with knowledgeable staff.
Southern Nevada Conservancy, a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Las Vegas, NV, works cooperatively with the Bureau of Land Management through a formal agreement to provide education, informational, and other public services that will add to visitors understanding and enjoyment of the California Trail Interpretive Center. These programs include California Trail Interpretive Center programs, interpretive programming, volunteer management, retail operations, social media outreach, and this website.
